It was a busy Monday morning for Perak state officials after a whirlwind, highly dramatic Sunday, that saw the effective resignations of two KeADILan assemblymen, Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi and Mohd Osman Mohd Jailu.
Perak Speaker V Sivakumar started off by handing over a formal letter notifying the Election Commission of the vacancies at the Behrang and Changkat Jering state constituencies.
Sivakumar also requested for by-elections to take place within the next 60-days, as according to official time-line.
Meanwhile, Menteri Besar Mohamad Nizar Jamaluddin had an audience with the Perak Sultan to brief him on the latest situation.
Jamaluddin and Mohd Osman - who are arguing against their resignations being put through by their party KeADILan - may hold a press conference in Kuala Lumpur later today.
Both had gone ‘missing’ for more five days, un-contactable by even their families, amid widespread speculation that they were being enticed to defect by deputy premier and incoming Umno president Najib Abdul Razak.
